Dimethylol propionic acid is often used in the coating industry to manufacture polyurethane dispersions, water-soluble alkyd and polyester resins, powder coating resins such as epoxy-polyester systems, epoxy ester coating resins, electrodeposition coatings and in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, perfumes and dyes.
